1st         Galloway & Anderson’s Torranpoint Gilder from Alayglow.
2yr B, Presenting a very nice outline, good size and shape. Feminine through head with a kind expression. Neck of good length flows into well laid shoulders. Good depth of chest, short loin to a correctly angled rear. Easy true mover with drive. BOB

2nd        McDonald’s Richtig Rapollo. 2yr D. Racier all through than 1st, pleasing head with dark eyes, well laid shoulders, chest just reaching top of elbow. Straighter through stifle. Moved ok.

 

 

Retriever (Labrador)
 

Junior (3,2)
1st         Gajda-Meissner’s Saorsa Upwards Lighting.
15mth Black B. Liked her outline. Good breadth of skull, well set ears and dark eyes. Super front assembly with deep well sprung ribs, well laid shoulders and good forechest. Level topline to a well angled rear. Moved better in the challenge to win BOB

 

Post Graduate (2,0)
1st         McGillivray’s Antonine Dreamlover.
11 mth Yellow D. So much to like about this youngster. Good shape and a lovely head with dark eyes and well placed ears. Lovely front assembly with well laid shoulders, good return of upper arm and good forechest but feet need to tighten. Deep well sprung ribs under a level topline to a well angled rear. Moved well. BP

2nd        Gajda-Meissner’s Saorsa Queen Of The Stone Age.  3yr Black. Another nice B of good size and shape. Pleasing head and expression, clean neck to a well made front assembly with good angles and nice forechest. Good bone and feet. Level topline and good rear angles. Just moving a little close behind on the day.

1st         Gajda-Meissner & Cross Cook’s Stelainros Neptune at Weathertop.
5yr Black D. Smaller frame but lovely outline. Masculine through head with good breadth, dark eyes and well placed ears. Short neck to well made forequarters with well laid shoulders and deep ribs. A touch finer in bone. Deep loin to a moderately angled rear. Moved well but lacked drive.

1st         Jeremy, Carron Barron & Jenkins’ Rannaleroch Cottonspinney.
9mth D. Liked his shape and proportions, well up to size but balanced and so well put together. Super head with dark eye and soft expression. Excels in forequarters, well laid shoulders and return of upper arm to give good forechest. Good spring of rib and deep chest. Level topline to a well angled rear. Moved with style and drive. Promising youngster. BP

2nd        Jeremy, Carron Barron & Jenkins’ Rannaleroch Cotton Reel. Litter sister to 1st. Feminine and love her size. A little longer through the loin that her brother which changes her overall shape but just as well put together fore and aft with nice bone and feet. Moved well. Both need to strengthen front pasterns.

1st         Purdie’s Megarvey Itty Bitty Boo JW.
3yr B. A very nice example of correct size and shape. Lovely head of good shape with dark eyes and a soft expression. Super front assembly, well laid shoulders and good return of upper arm, nice bone and neat feet. Deep ribs of good spring sit under a level topline which flows seamlessly into her tail. Well angled muscular rear. Moved true with style and drive. BOB

2nd        Healy’s Bluebraes Jack Frost. 15mth D. Masculine boy with good head & dark eyes. Good lay of shoulder and deep ribs, nice amount of bone and good feet. Level topline and good tail set. Well made rear and moved well with drive.

This 3 yr may have been standing alone but what a lovely boy he is. From his first run round I knew he was going to be the dog to beat in the group. Super type and shape and excels in so many areas. Classic head and skull with dark eyes and well set ears. Excels in forequarters, muscular well laid shoulders, good return of upper arm with a nice amount of forechest, good bone and neat feet. Deep ribs to a short muscular loin under a level topline to a well set tail. Lovely muscular rear used on the move where he is true with lovely reach and drive. BOB 

 

 

Gordon Setter
 

Post Graduate (3,0)
1st         Miller’s Liric Just The Ticket.
11mth D, very raw at the moment and will take time to get to where he promises. Well shaped head with good depth to skull and muzzle, a nice dark eye completes the picture.  Good length of neck into well laid shoulders, good forechest. Deep ribs and a short loin sit under a level topline and correct tail set. Moderate rear angles. Best mover in the class

2nd        Caulfield’s Colquhally Tickled Pink. 19mth B. Really liked this one on the stand, feminine of good size and outline. Pleasing head with good depth of skull, dark eyes and a soft expression. Well made forequarters with good bone and feet. Deep ribs back to a short loin under a level topline.  Could do with a little more rear angulation. Let down by her close front and rear movement but looks nice in profile.

3rd        Danks’ Colquhally Major Tom

1st         Ford’s Sh Ch Liric Fusilier with Shillay JW ShCM ShCExe.
What a super 5yr D. Mature, lovely size and shape and carrying a good coat to complete a lovely picture. Excels in so many areas. Correct head with depth through skull and muzzle. Super forequarters with well laid shoulders and good forechest. Deep ribs with good spring, short muscular loin. Level topline and a well set tail. Well-muscled rear with correct angles. Best mover, true coming and going with reach and drive. BOB.

2nd        Miller’s Rhum Night Legend ShCM. 5yr D. Finer throughout, longer and leaner in head but good depth and nice dark eyes. Well laid shoulders but less forechest that 1st. Level topline and correct tail set. Moderate rear angles, moved ok with good drive.

Very pretty feminine 16mth O/W B. Pleasing head of good shape with dark eyes. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders but a little upright in upper arm. Ribs just reaching elbow, well-muscled loin. Muscular rear with good angulation. Moved well with reach and drive. BOB

 

 

Spaniel (English Springer)

1st         Rose’s Westaway Dream Angus of Rosannoch (Imp Nor).
3yr Liver/white D. Presents a lovely outline on the stand. Good through head with width of skull and muzzle, good stop, dark eye and soft expression. Neck flows into well laid shoulders with good return of upper arm and nice forechest. Deep ribs and a level topline. Rear has a well bent stifle. Unsettled in his rear movement today.

 

Spaniel (Cocker)

3yr Blue Roan B. One of those good honest dogs with everything there, nothing flashy, nothing overdone. Pretty feminine head of good shape with dark eyes and well set ears. Lovely forequarters with good bone and feet. Neck flows into well laid shoulders over well sprung ribs of good depth. Level topline, short loin, well made rear. Moved with drive.

 

Irish Setter

1st         Alcorn, Stafford & Clayton’s Gwendariffs Red Light Show Farnfield.
Very elegant, 3yr racy boy. Love his head, well proportioned, long and lean with good stop. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders. Deep ribs of good shape. Short loin and gentle slope to topline. Good rear angles. Moved true fore and aft, good reach in profile but not the rear extension I would expect.

2nd        Tupper & Rosie’s Staratlanta Shankly’s Fire. 2yr D build on a larger frame. Good head shape with dark eye. Nice length of neck into well laid shoulders. Lacks forechest and depth of brisket. Lovely gentle slope to topline to a well angled rear. Moved a little close behind but wide in front. In good coat and looked good in profile.Hungarian Vizsla

1st         Legg & Scott Sh Ch Rhapsody In Blue JW ShCM ShEX.
What a super B. Love her type shape and size. Feminine head of good shape, nice eyes. Good length of neck to a very well made forehand with well laid shoulders and good forechest. Good depth of rib back to a short well muscled loin. Level topline to god tail set and well made rear. Moved true with excellent reach and drive. BOB

2nd        Findlay’s Fenseges Va Va Voom. 2yr B, different in type to 1st. Broader through head & muzzle, dark eye and nice expression. Very good front angles with lots of forechest. Level topline to good tail set and well made rear. Moved well in rear and profile, comes on a little wide.

 

 

Weimaraner

1st         Alcorn, Johnstone & Davidson’s Gunalt Hendricks.
10mth D. What a lovely boy, presents a good outline on the stand. Super head, good length of neck with nice arch. Excels in forequarters, well laid shoulders, return of upper arm and good forechest. Good bone and feet. Good depth of brisket and ribbed well back to short deep loin under a level topline. Well angled, muscular rear and good tail set. Rather fond of his tail on the move where he is true fore and aft with lovely fluid profile gait with reach and drive.

 

Gundog Group

After judging all the breeds this was going to be a close decision between my first 2. When the time came, the Flatcoated Retriever looked a little less enthusiastic that in his class and the Gordon setter stepped up a gear to take top spot.  So pleased we stayed to then watch him go on to win Reserve Best in Show.

2nd        Deighton’s Oakdene Schiehallion (Imp Bel) – Irish Setter. 7mth D. Nice youngster with lots of promise but a little distracted today. Liked his size and shape with pleasing head and eyes. Good bone, well made forequarters with depth of chest and gentle slope to topline. Good rear angles and a steady mover.

3rd        Miller’s Liric Just The Ticket – Gordon Setter

 

Veteran (2,1)

 1st         Miller’s Brookes Shadow Mover VW – Gordon Setter. 8yrs old and still able to act the ‘puppy’. Good outline, pleasing head with good depth of muzzle. Well laid shoulders and deep chest. Level topline and good rear angles. Moved well with drive once he realised that he was supposed to be showing.
